Main rough, trying to get closer and emphasise little men, but still keep details of woman in perspective.
1st rough, liked the idea that the men on lady's bottom could be stick-like but with not-so-happy expression, in contrast to the more detail on the woman.

Inspiration here, hit on the idea that a stripper could have a tattoo of an unattractive, normal beer drinking bloke. So needed to position tatoo somehow...

Finished illustration here, took a bit of designing to get perspective of carriage, men in foreground and big enough 'conversation' cloud into square frame. Helped to do 3 separate layers in this respect. The men I got from some wrestler profiles off internet! Hence dodgy moustache. When painting the men I used a plastic knife instead of brush to make them 'rougher', but could go even more exaggerated in future. My illustration is quite figurative, not crazily abstract - maybe that's how I do it and when elements come together it becomes abstract, or maybe I should experiment getting it more pared down and direct. I have to say I enjoyed doing this.

Spent more time on this rough, trying to compose mouths with conversation 'cloud' floating in train carriage. I still like the previous sketches showing more of the men's faces though - this one shows the content of the article succinctly though I think.

Different versions of the composition. Conversation 'objects': car, money, house 'floating' around men talking on train.
Source material I've looked at for men on the train. Have the impression they are tough 'men's men'!

Finished Illustration here. Tried to use some contrasting scale, colours from Ecomomist illustration and craziness of Ralph Steadman.

More source material, Ralph Steadman who worked with writer Hunter S. Thompson, Economist magazine illustration and Robert Crumb.

VERY ROUGHS

Hello all, couple of roughs here, and inspiration source material to show intentions. First is looking more abstract, less colour. Second more figurative, (supposed to be) and smoother - two different approaches to choose but I'm enjoying the first thing more...
